New House !!

The house (terrarium) for my babies looks like this before

Then people said that it is good for baby Istar to use a substrate like coco peat to maintain the humidity of the house
so that there will be no Pyramiding issue

I was thinking about that, I don't want my babies have a pyramiding issue (except for Avalena) so I looked for a seller who sell the substrate and bought one

As soon as it arrived at my house, I try to use that on my terrarium and it looks like this

Well, it says that I have to put it at least 2cm thick and spread it out

I did that and I put my handmade cave on it

Messy, and I don't know where to put the food for them

They seems don't like it because they were digging the substrate all the time

When I shared this to the forum, one of the member said that they might be overheated so they try to find a cool place by digging the substrate

Then I think that it will be best for them to stay on paper as it's substrate, not coco peat

So that I removed all the coco peat and go back to the paper

Then, I was thinking that, if I put a hut on the terrarium and put feeding dish they will not feel overheated and the food can be clean

I also need a thermometer and hygrometer so I will know when to use the basking lamp or when to spray some water on the coco peat

So I ordered the feeding dish, hut, thermometer and hygrometer and I also bought the UVB lamp so they still can get a "sun" even if it's a rainy day

When I got home, I immediately make the terrarium with coco peat substrate and the hut and feeding dish

So, this is how it looks like

I put the hut on the corner, away from the lamp so that it will be a cool place

then I put the feeding dish under the lamp so they will know that place is a place to eat

I spread the coco peat and make as nice as possible so they can walk around their house

I put the thermometer and hygrometer under the lamp too so that I know what's the temperature and humidity there

It says that the best one for tortoise is 27-29 Celsius for normal and around 30 Celsius for basking place

So this is my terrarium looks like now

They can climb over the hut and they can go down the hut and hide

they can sun bathing under the lamp and eat their food from feeding dish

I use two lamps which are the UVB one (blue one) and then the red one is intense basking spot lamp

Then I made a hiding place (the hut)

No one love being down here except Joshua
Sometimes Joshua goes under the hut and sleep, but at night, he is outside with his sisters

The feeding dish, empty because they eat all the food
Sometimes they sleep in here too, and Avalena once tripped here and she was upside down
Lucky I wasn't there for only less than 2 minutes so she's fine

It keeps fell down so at the end I put it on the coco peat
 

I hope they love their new house

I'm planning to make a bigger one with them someday
Just need to find a good container or probably gonna make a terrarium
